Integrated Emergency Humanitarian Response to the Rohingya Population in Cox’s Bazar (IEHRR) Project
Background
Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh mostly refer to Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs) from Myanmar who are living in Bangladesh. On 28 September 2018, at the 73rd United Nations General Assembly, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said there are 1.1 million Rohingya refugees now in Bangladesh. Most of them have gathered in makeshift or spontaneous settlements. Poor nutrition, communicable & non-communicable diseases, injuries and other concerns such as mental health, immense public health challenges that the Ministry of Health, Bangladesh, WHO and other health partners are working to address.
Considering the issues, Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) Health Sector stretched out to provide primary health care support to the FDMNs since 01 September, 2017. DAM have been implemented Phase III of IEHRR Project from August 2019 to June 2020, which is funded by DFID/Ukaid, fund managed by UNOPS and consortium by Christian Aid (CAID). DAM has been providing its services in camp– 13 & 19 through 1 Static Health Post, 2 Setellite Health Post and 1 Primary Health Center (PHC) is under construction in camp-13.

Phase V of the IEHRR project aims to improve health status; to reduce vulnerability of communicable and non-communicable diseases, awareness session on COVID-19 management, Referrals and to enhance the quality of life of Rohingya and Host Communities.

Project Summary:
To improve health status; to reduce vulnerability of communicable and non-communicable diseases, Health awareness on COVID-19 management and to enhance the quality of life of Rohingya and Host Communities DAM Health Sector providing general consolation (CD & NCD), laboratory test, family planning, ANC & PNC services, ambulance & referrals services, door to door surveillance, group counseling on adolescent reproductive health, health awareness & community mobilization, Hand washing session & training on First Aid & DRR through Physician, Lab Technician, Midwife, Paramedic, FPC Counselor, related trainers & health posts for the Rohingya & Host community in camp level in collaboration with the Camp-in-Charge, Site Management, UNHCR, Health Sector, WHO, UNO Office, Civil Surgeon Office, DC Office, RRRC Office & other stakeholders in Cox’s Bazar district.
